What to Pack in your ‘Personal Bag’ Carry On

A week ago, Jesse and I were headed off to London, and later in the week, joined his sister Ella, in Edinburgh, Scotland! We were beyond excited for this trip, and had been planning for what felt like forever. So by the time the morning of April 5 was here, I was packed and ready to go!

Below is a list of all my carry-on travel necessities that I have curated over the years. These essentials will get you through any flight, especially overseas.

1. The Personal Bag

Over the years traveling internationally and within the U.S., I've found that it's really important to find a personal bag that suits you. Too small and you'll find that your bag has been overloaded. Too big and you end up having little to no leg room, once you've found your seat.

I found my perfect bag at Target, which you can find by following this link. I love the versatility of it. While I'm walking through the airport, I can easily wear it as a backpack and once we've landed, if I want a more polished look, I can tuck the straps in and carry it as a purse.

2. Passport Cover

Okay mostly the passport cover is for looks, but it can also be really helpful when you're trying to locate it quickly. I suggest picking one up at TJ Maxx before a trip. They're inexpensive and really cute! You can also store your plane tickets in the side pocket to keep everything in one place.

3. Beauty Pouch: Olay Mist / Olay Clay Stick / Melatonin / Chap Stick / Hand Sanitizer

These items are a must for me! After a long flight, especially an international one where I end up falling asleep, having this mist spray by Olay and the Clay Stick Mask, also by Olay, really helps rejuvenate my skin, and wakes me back up. & of course everyone needs chapstick and hand sanitizer by their side.

Taking a couple melatonins with you will help you fall asleep naturally, and won't leave you feeling groggy after waking up - or sleep deprived!

I keep all of these items in their own small bag so it's easy to find and accessible.

4. Electronics & Entertainment: iPad / charger / book / glasses

This was my first trip taking the iPad since Liv (my lil sister) so generously lent it to me, but I made a point to download some episodes of Jesse and I's show from Netflix for us to watch while we were waiting in the airport. A charger is a given - we can't have a dead iPhone or iPad on our hands!

Every trip I take, I always make it a point to bring along a book. It really helps me pass the time on a flight, and gives me a break from all that screen time.

5. Water Bottle

Lastly, I LOVE my S'well water bottle and never go anywhere without it - seriously. I'm big on staying hydrated and with this bottle, your water will always stay cool.

If you implement these few items into your travel personal bag, you're sure to have a successful trip!
