Summer in San Francisco

It's been a while since I've been on here! I'm trying to get back into the habit of writing about all our adventures, etc. So I wanted to hop on here and highlight what our summer 2020 has looked like since we're nearing the end with the start of September.

June

June was a very calm month for Jesse and I here in SF. We honestly didn't do much! At this point we had already been quarantined for 3 months, so we were pretty used to staying inside, and taking walks around our neighborhood when we just couldn't take the indoors any longer! Since I didn't have a job at this point, while Jesse was working, I would go on runs, bake, or just do fun things to keep me busy!

We made some subtle "home improvements" around the apartment. One being our lovely new shelf, which is now filled with fun pictures! Another being the addition of curtains...finally! And a cute Ikea lamp. This is also the month Jesse got his electric scooter - which he loves! It's been such a good investment since he has to go into work twice a week.

At the end of June we braved the airport and headed home to see our families! 6 months had gone by - so Jesse and I were both antsy to visit with our parents and sisters. I spent the last week of June at our house in Aiken, while Jesse spent his enjoying Edisto Island!

July

July was filled with a little more adventure! While Jesse headed back to SF, I stayed in South Carolina for two more weeks. My family and I went on our annual beach trip to Hilton Head Island, and had the best time! Every summer we're not sure if it'll be our last trip all together, so we always make it count. I also spent time visiting with my grandparents. My grandma gave my sister and I bracelets that our Papa used to wear and it melted our hearts.

Jesse actually spent a week in SF with his mom, who flew over a couple days after he got back! They spent time exploring the city, eating good food, and traveling a bit. Jesse raved about venturing a few hours north to see the Redwood Trees!

I returned to SF mid-July and Jesse and I were determined to keep exploring. The following weekend, we rented a car and drove out to the suburbs to do some shopping! We went to Lowe's and had a BLAST. It was honestly so much fun picking out plants for our patio and apartment to liven things up a bit! The next day we drove down south to Half Moon Bay, and sat out on the beach for a while with some snacks.

At the very end of July I started my new internship - which has proven to be a really exciting position! Working from home has been a nice change as well.

August

August was filled with adventure and work! By mid-August I was settled in to my new position, and Jesse and I were ready for another day trip! One Saturday, we drove all the way to Lake Tahoe which is on the California-Nevada border. It was really beautiful! I'd never been anywhere with clear water, so it was really cool to sit by the water and look out.

We spent another day driving around the Marin Headlands, before stopping at Battery Spencer to get a nice view of the Golden Gate Bridge.

That pretty much sums up Jesse and I's summer! Above I posted a video of how we have been spending our more low-key Sunday's here in the city. They've mainly consisted of disc golf and trips to the Farmers Market.

Hopefully I'll get back into the habit of uploading more blog posts. I love having it to look back on! In the meantime, happy September! Talk soon ;)
